Cognitive Therapies
Cognitive therapies focus on the role of cognition (thoughts and beliefs) in shaping mental health. They focus on making us more aware of our thinking patterns, identifying negative or distorted thinking patterns and promoting healthier thinking and, thus, healthier emotional and behavioural responses.
Other types of therapies may focus on different aspects of mental health, such as unconscious processes or past experiences, to understand and resolve current issues.

Some therapies focus on the therapeutic relationship between clients and their therapist and the importance of establishing that dynamic to encourage healing.
While all these types of therapies are important and offer each individual client something different, the focus of what we offer here is cognitive-based. The reason being:
1. Self-empowerment- Cognitive therapies allow the client to learn more about themselves and practice and develop healthy practices such as self-awareness, reflection and practical goal setting. We feel these are fundamental skills and will support clients to make better decisions about future therapy choices and enhance their chances of success in future therapies.
2. Starts of a Personal Journey—People will change when they are ready, no matter the external support or guidance. Knowing differs from believing, and believing doesn't always lead to change. The cognitive approach encourages individuals to start on their journeys of development.
3. Practical life-changing skills—Along with self-awareness and therapeutic benefits, cognitive therapies involve practical skills to help individuals in everyday situations. Skills such as emotional management, reflection, goal setting, stress relief, and planning are key components of many cognitive therapies.
